Aspirations
Australia’s booming post-war economy and stable political context offered Greek migrants a promising environment for raising families and achieving prosperity.
The Trip
The majority of Greeks that travelled to Australia under the assisted migrant scheme or through a sponsorship agreement made the journey by ship. By the late 1960s, when airfares started to become more affordable, this began to change.
